Where Taboo Comic Artists Can Actually Publish in 2026
If you draw adult comics, the kind that don't sanitize themselves for a general audience, you already know the pattern. You find a platform. You build an audience there. Then the payment processor sends the platform a letter, the platform quietly rewrites its content guidelines, and your catalog disappears on a Tuesday with a form email explaining that your work no longer meets community standards.

The Structural Problem
Adult comics sit at an unfortunate intersection. They're visual, which makes them legible to automated moderation in a way prose never is. They're often extreme in content, because that's the point. Card networks impose restrictions on adult content that go well beyond what the law requires. A platform that wants to keep card processing has to enforce those restrictions or lose its ability to take money at all. So the platform enforces. And when the restrictions tighten, as they periodically do, the platform tightens with them, and the artists furthest from the mainstream are the ones who get cut first.
The result is that a taboo comic artist can do everything right, build a following, produce consistently, keep their work legal, and still lose their income to a policy change they had no input on and no warning about.
What Actually Fixes It
Sympathy from a platform doesn't survive a processor ultimatum. The fix is publishing somewhere that operates independently of the card networks in the first place.

Maliven now accepts comics alongside prose. PDF and CBZ both ingest directly, the upload limit is set generously because comic files are large, and comics sit in the main catalog rather than in a separate corner with less traffic.
Royalties are 70% base, or 75% if you keep one free title live. That free title is optional and strongly recommended, because it's the single most effective thing you can do to get read. Free downloads show up in your dashboard as real acquisitions, so you can see the traction even though those specific reads don't pay.
You can publish under up to five pen names from one account, and the pen names are not linked publicly. Payouts go out in Bitcoin over Lightning with a $1 minimum, on-chain at $10, or manually via Zelle or Cash App at $10 if you'd rather stay in dollars.

Where We Do Draw a Line
One rule, and it's absolute. Any character who reads as a minor gets the work removed and the account banned. There is no appeal, no gradient, no argument about canonical ages. If a subject is adult but thin, petite, or short, that's fine and stays up. If there's genuine doubt about apparent age, the work comes down and the artist is not penalized for it. We keep a log of those decisions.
That's the whole list. We don't have a taste committee. If your work is legal and the characters are adults, we'll host it.
The rest of our enforcement is deliberately non-punitive. There's no strike system and no hidden ranking penalty for authors who've had something flagged. If something's wrong, you get told. If it happens again, you get a plain warning. If it keeps happening, the account closes. No secret scoring, no quiet demotion in the catalog.
The Honest Pitch
We are smaller than the platforms you've been burned by. Our traffic is lower. If you're looking for the largest possible audience on day one, we're the wrong choice.
What we offer is that the ground doesn't move. The platform is self-hosted on infrastructure we control, the payment rails avoid anyone with an opinion about your subject matter, and the content policy is one paragraph long and hasn't changed since launch.
For a lot of artists in this space, that stability is worth more than reach. Reach built somewhere unstable is a hostage.
