PROLOGUE
Can a human bleed green? Of course not.
Then what am I?
What does "I" even mean? Who was I… he? she? it? My thoughts are tangling. My brain is starving for oxygen. Nothing makes sense.
What is this place?
All this transport around us, yet we're rotting alive in this goddamn anthill. How I’d love to breathe fresh air right now…
Hold on… what is this on me? Everything is filthy. Disgusting. Ruined my stockings, too. Damn shame.
The wet fabric clings to my skin, vile. That cursed green slop won’t stop. It keeps oozing from the wound, slow and steady. Maybe I’ll just stay here. Alone. Betrayed and forgotten by everyone. Doesn’t matter anymore.
The only thing that matters is that my messenger catches that creature. It can’t be allowed to escape. It’s like a tumor. Leave even the smallest piece behind, and it all starts over.
He’ll catch it. He has to. Otherwise what was all this for… What’s the point of anything?
I think I hear footsteps... Who’s there?
My vision is failing. Everything blurs and shakes. Something massive and white is advancing out of the dark.
Maybe it’s the angel of death, coming for me. About time…
