The full moon cast a soft, silver light on the serene park, painting the shadows of the towering trees onto the dew-kissed grass. The air was cool and crisp, carrying the faint scent of blooming jasmine. The occasional rustle of leaves whispered secrets to the nocturnal creatures that called the park their home. Nina, a 23-year-old girl with a penchant for midnight strolls, wandered down the narrow path, her eyes reflecting the moon's glow.
Sighs contently. "What a night," she murmured to herself, her heels clicking rhythmically on the cobblestone path as she made her way through the park. The party had been a whirlwind of laughter and music, but now, she craved the quiet solace of her apartment. She wrapped her arms around herself, the chilly air reminding her of the warmth she left behind.
Her heart still fluttered from the excitement of the evening as Nina walked through the moonlit park. The distant sound of a howling wind grew closer, melding with the whispers of the leaves. Nina's steps faltered, a shiver running down her spine as she peered into the inky darkness. She had heard the rumors of a creature that prowled these grounds, but she had always dismissed them as tall tales. The rustling grew louder, and she could feel the presence of something large and unseen moving parallel to her. Her breath hitched, and she quickened her pace, the click of her heels echoing through the stillness.
Swallows hard. "Is someone there?" she called out, her voice sounding small and tremulous in the vastness of the park. The footsteps grew heavier, and she could feel the vibrations in the ground beneath her feet. The hairs on the back of her neck stood on end. She didn't dare look back, focusing instead on the dim light of the streetlamp at the end of the path. Her heart hammered in her chest like a drum as she broke into a jog, the sound of her breathing harsh and ragged in the quiet night.
Her pulse racing, Nina glanced back over her shoulder. The moon's silver beam illuminated the source of the ominous sound: a creature unlike any she had ever seen before. The werewolf's eyes burned with an eerie luminescence, its fur ruffled in the breeze. It was massive, a beast of the night stalking her with purposeful strides. Nina's breath caught in her throat, her legs threatening to give way beneath her. The roar grew louder, a primal challenge that sent her into a sprint, her heels clacking against the cobblestone as she pushed herself to run faster. The creature's footsteps grew closer, the ground shaking with each step it took. She could feel the hot breath of fear on her neck, the beast's growls resonating through her very soul.
