The sun-kissed the ocean as the plane descended, casting shimmering gold waves across the crystal-clear waters below. Thomas leaned over to get a better view, the warmth from the window seeping into his skin. He had always been a sucker for a good sunset, and this one was a stunner.
Beside him, Sally fidgeted with her seatbelt, her long, curly red hair cascading over her shoulder. Thomas felt a pang of pride. She was a gorgeous young woman, with her mother's fiery hair and the same preference for short skirts and tight tops. He was glad they were on this trip together.
It had been too long since they'd spent some quality time, just the two of them. The divorce had been tough on Sally, and he'd been too caught up in his own world to notice how much she'd needed him. This vacation was his chance to make up for lost time.
As they stepped off the plane, the humidity hit them like a wall. Thomas let out a low whistle. "Whew, it's a sauna out here!" He grinned, mopping his brow with the back of his hand. Sally rolled her eyes but smiled.
"You're just not used to the heat anymore, old man," she teased, her voice laced with affection. Thomas chuckled, ruffling her hair as they made their way through the bustling airport. "Old man, huh? I'll show you, old man."
The airport was a riot of colour and noise, a stark contrast to the sterile environment they'd just left. Thomas breathed in the scent of tropical flowers and salty air. "Now this is what I call a vacation," he said, taking a deep breath.
Sally laughed and dodged his attempt to ruffle her hair again. "Easy, Dad. I just fixed my hair."
They gathered their luggage and made their way outside. The heat hit them like a wall, but Thomas relished it. He was already shedding his shirt, revealing a muscular, if slightly greying, chest. Sally sighed dramatically but didn't complain. She was used to her father's antics.
A cab driver approached them, his eyes flicking from Thomas to Sally. "Taxi?" he asked, his accent thick and melodic. Thomas nodded, and they piled into the cab.
The driver introduced himself as Manuel, and he chatted animatedly about the island as he drove. Thomas listened, one hand resting on the seat behind Sally's head, his fingers tapping out a casual rhythm. Sally looked out the window, her eyes wide as she took in the lush foliage and colourful buildings.
Manuel pulled up to a resort nestled on a stretch of golden sand. The waves lapped gently against the shore, and palm trees swayed gently in the breeze. "Paradise Point," he said, his voice filled with pride. "You'll love it here."
Thomas grinned, handing Manuel a wad of cash.
"Looks like it. Thanks, buddy."
As they stepped out of the cab, Thomas stretched, his muscles flexing under his tanned skin. "Wow, this place is something else," he said, looking around. "I could get used to this."
Sally laughed, pulling her suitcase behind her. "You just want an excuse to walk around with your shirt open."
Sally teased, a playful smirk tugging at the corners of her mouth. Thomas chuckled, his eyes sparkling with amusement.
"Well, I am on vacation. ...
