Subject: Final Offer – Personal Assistant Position
Elena stared at the screen, pulse already too fast. The salary was almost double what she had asked for. The benefits were aggressive. The start date was tomorrow morning.
There was only one condition listed in bold:
You will report exclusively to me. My rules. My schedule. No exceptions.
She should have walked away.
Instead, she typed two words and hit send.
I accept.
The next morning, the elevator doors opened on the 42nd floor of Voss Tower. The air felt colder up here. Cleaner. Expensive.
A woman at the desk barely looked up. “Mr. Thorne is expecting you. Last door on the left.”
