K9 Life Pt. 2

Kira Lee Scott

We left the canal systems behind and entered Lake Erie proper and I can still remember my first thought as I gazed out across the expanse to the north and west.

Holy fuck, that ain’t a lake, that’s a damn ocean! I had grown up on the relatively small lakes and ponds of Florida and that had left me poorly prepared for what lay ahead of us. Had the waters not lay flat and calm for as far as the eye could see, I might have turned tail and beat a hasty retreat. We had a sound and well-equipped vessel, we had gumption aplenty but if the wind so much as sighed, my sailing qualifications were going to be seriously over-matched.

Don’t get me wrong, we weren’t stupid. We had paper charts, a Garmin chart plotter and Google Earth. We knew the exact size of what we were getting into, but until you look out on one of the Great Lakes in person, all that info doesn’t mean diddly squat.

“Fuck me!” whispered Milo, “We’re going out there?”

“Ummm, not just yet we’re not.” I replied as I looked down at the Garmin. “Let’s head west, Landfall Marina is only three miles from here. We’ll arrange to have the mast reinstalled and grab a drink if there’s a bar nearby.”

We got lucky and caught the yard crew with an opening, so they were able to bring us alongside the seawall where they quickly stepped our mast and held it in position as we reattached the stays and shrouds. After that, we took out time reinstalling the sails and doing a double check of the running rigging.

Four hours later, we left the marina and headed next door to Peg Leg’s Place for some much needed nerve soothing. We’d been there about an hour sitting at the bar drinking and chatting up the bartender regarding our concerns about sailing safely on such a huge body of water.

“Hold on folks, it sounds like what you need is a crew to get you where you’re going.” he said, removing his phone from the shelf under the bar. “I can call a couple of guys to come over so you can interview them if you want?”

“Sure,” I said, hoping I could afford someone to get us across that great watery terror waiting for Milo and I outside.

Half an hour later, 23-year-old Benjamin walked in and introduced himself. I liked him immediately. The three of us had a beer while discussing his qualifications and though his experience was extensive for one so young, he had no formally approved training. We told him we needed to talk to one other guy before we made our decision and promised to call him when we made our choice.

After he left, the bartender sent an older man down to us. Brad was mid-thirties, trim, good looking in a frat boy kind of way and had oodles of official qualifications including his captain’s license. We chatted for a while and though he was obviously pretty high on himself, we agreed on a dollar figure and departure time as well as agreeing to pay for his transportation back home.

“If someone could give me a tour of the boat tonight, I’ll meet you first thing in the morning to shove off.” He said. That seemed reasonable to me so we gathered our things and began the short walk over to the marina. As we were leaving the bar parking lot, Milo stopped suddenly.

“You guys go ahead; I’m going to take advantage of a real bathroom while I have the chance.” He said with a grin. “I’ll catch up in a few minutes.” Just like that, he turned on his heel, returning to the bar and out of sight.

“Okay then,” I said to his retreating back, surprised that Milo would leave me alone with a virtual stranger at night just so he could go to the bathroom in relative comfort. I guess I now knew where I ranked in importance as far as Milo went, though to be honest, a quiet comfortable toilet was becoming more important to me as well the longer we stayed on board. If we ever did replace Jezebelle, upgraded head facilities would be ranked way closer to the top of the list as far as features went.

“And here she is,” I said as we approached Jez on the transient dock. “Our home and escape from civilization.”

Without a word, Brad jumped aboard and began a cursory inspection of Jez’s rigging, his small flashlight slicing back and forth, lighting up the parts of the vessel he wanted to examine more closely. In five minutes he rejoined me at the open companionway and not waiting for an invite, quickly disappeared below. Surprised by his rudeness, I followed him but by the time I climbed down, he was already forward in the V-berth. I couldn’t tell what he was looking at since the overhead light was still off and I assumed he was searching for a switch. As I reached the entry to the v-berth, I reached inside on the bulkhead to flip on a light but a barely seen hand grabbed my wrist, forcing my hand down.

“Oh my God!” I blurted out as I made contact with Brad’s semi-hard dick.

I know, it was such a girly thing to say and it got a chuckle from Brad who assumed I was just shocked by his size though to be honest, at full mast, I doubted he was going to amount to more than the high side of average.

“What the hell are you doing Brad?” I asked, utterly shocked and outraged.

“Oh come on baby, you’ve been giving me the eye since I walked in the bar tonight. Don’t start playing hard to get now. We only have a few minutes before your boy shows up. You don’t want to still be blowing me when he gets back, do you?” He dropped this load of crap on me with such self-assurance that for a second I was forced to reassess our earlier interactions. Had I been coming on to him? I’d had a few beers and was in a pretty good mood. Even so, Milo was very damn good at catching signals from me that sometimes I didn’t even realize I was sending. I was certain that had I been flirting, Milo would have reigned me in before I went too far.

With a twist, I wrenched my hand away and recoiled back towards the companionway steps which at the moment seemed to be my only hope of escape. I wasn’t deluding myself about needing to escape either. I knew by some primal instinct that Brad had no intentions of leaving peacefully tonight till he had me as one more notch on his pistol grip.

Reaching the steps at last, I just started up when I was slammed from behind causing me to splay out, arms and legs akimbo and nothing holding me upright but Brad’s weight and my tits caught above the third step. No matter how I thrashed about, I couldn’t get free and was horrified when I realized he was pulling off my beach wrap. That and my bikini bottoms were all that stood between me and my rape.

As the wrap finally surrendered to his brutal treatment, he hooked the back of my bikini and ripped it violently down and back, baring me for his use in one swift motion.

“God damn it Brad stop!” I yelled as I continued my struggles though they seemed to be in vain. Barring some miracle, it looked like he was going to succeed in taking what he wanted.

Suddenly, I heard a meaty whap and he was no longer there. Confused, I got my feet back under me and as I stood upright, I was grabbed under my arms and lifted bodily straight up and into the cockpit above.

“Milo…” That’s all there was time to get out before I was wrapped up in his arms.

“I’m so sorry Ki. I shouldn’t have left you alone with that asshole for fifteen seconds, much less fifteen minutes. Are you okay?” He pulled back and was examining me as best he could under the half assed dock lights.

“Yeah sweetheart, I’m fine, just a little rattled.” I pulled myself back into his hug, trying to calm myself and hopefully him too. “By the way, what the hell did you hit him with?”

He reached over and picked up a winch handle from the cockpit seat, heaving it far out into the night, a soft and distant splash the only indication that it actually landed anywhere.

“If he’s dead, I need to get rid of the body.” He said. “If he’s alive... well, I’m still going to have a body to get rid of…”

A groan from below settled the living or dead issue, now I had to protect my attacker from my knight in shining armor. The irony was not lost on me, nor was it appreciated.

I don’t doubt that Milo had every intention of ending Brad that night. I don’t think it was something he was looking forward to. It was just something that needed doing and he was going to do it. Had he truly wanted him dead, it would have been much harder to talk him into my plan for curtailing Brad’s unorthodox dating habits.

I was fairly certain that this wasn’t the first time he’d forced himself on a woman, mainly because he was so cock-sure of himself. I worried it may have been the first time he’d been unsuccessful and I intended to make getting caught so unpleasant that he’d never be comfortable pulling this crap again.

After stripping Brad down to his birthday suit, we placed him in various posed positions with Milo to make it appear there was some serious butt banditry going on. Brad came too in the middle of some vicious T-bagging and the photos I got actually made it appear that Brad was really getting into it, though to be honest, if his hands hadn’t been tied behind his back, he might have managed to buck Milo completely out of frame.

My Photoshop skills aren’t great but they were good enough to blur out Milo’s face and after we had a series of compromising pictures ready, we sat Brad up in front of the laptop and showed them to him.

“That’s bullshit. I ain’t no fag!” he sputtered after seeing only a few. “I’ll have your ass’ arrested you bastards. I’ll sue. She was just as into it as I…”

That’s when Milo hit him the second time, rocking his head back to slam into the cupboards behind the settee. Grabbing the semi-conscious man by the shirt front, Milo shook him hard enough to rattle his teeth till he rejoined us in the here and now.

“Brad,” I began, “I’m fairly certain that’s going to happen every time you try to talk so maybe you should just shut up and listen.”

I picked up a cluster of Ziploc bags with various items inside, showing them to Brad so he understood we were serious.

“Each bag contains a DNA sample from you Brad. “I said, “Overkill, I know, but you can never be too careful these days.” I lay the bags with bloody cotton swabs from his head injury and hair I’d pulled out by the roots on the table.

“We’re going to make it a priority to google your name every month and if you ever get arrested or even accused of anything like this again, I’m going to send this Pre-rape kit to the LEO’s in charge along with all the info we’ve taken down from your wallet.” I gave him a second to process this threat before continuing.

“If for any reason they aren’t able to prove your innocence, I’ll spend weeks downloading these photos to every gay site I can find online. I’ll send them to your family, friends, co-workers. I’ll make sure you know the horror of being violated like you’ve never imagined, not that being gay is anything to be ashamed of, but I can see it terrifies you for some reason.”

It was past 2 am before I was convinced Brad would behave himself if ...
