Chapter 1
Christina Paterson sat in silence as her son drove them home from the cemetery. She closed her eyes, laying her head against the headrest. More than anything, she just wanted the day to be over. Exhaustion was a predator, waiting to leap on her at the first sign of weakness.
Too long. Everything took too long. Watching her husband fight and lose his battle with cancer dragged from months into years. Making arrangements for the funeral, torturing herself over details no one would remember in ten years, was interminable. And the day of the funeral…
The grieving widow had been up at five in the morning. Not only did her appearance demand perfection, but every detail of the day required her attention. At the funeral parlor, at the cemetery, and even at her son’s house for the wake afterwards. Now it was all done, and the weight of it all rested in her chest like a load of bricks.
“You okay, Mom?”
How could she answer that? Nothing would ever be okay again. That’s how it felt. Her husband was gone. Half of her life had been spent at his side. She had born his children and raised them. Tended the house while he had dutifully walked into the damned chemical plant that killed him. And now? Who was she now? What was her goal in life?
“I’m okay,” she said, her voice flat and dead, barely more than a whisper. “As much as I can be.”
Arthur’s big hand found hers. Squeezed it for comfort.
“You still have me,” he offered.
It was true. She was still his mother. But a mother and a wife are miles apart, and she would never be the latter again. Never be a lover again. Never have a partner and companion for her golden years.
She scoffed silently. What golden years? After the medical bills were paid, she’d be lucky if there was anything left of the company’s legal buy-out. It had seemed generous at the time, and she’d needed the money to pay for the next doctor, the next treatment, the next thread of hope. Now there was no more hope but the bills remained. There would be no gold in the last part of her life.
“Thank you,” Christina said, patting his hand. “And thank you for being here for me.”
“You’re my mom,” he said. “This is my place.”
Christina nodded; her eyes still closed. Arthur was a good son, always had been. Responsible, caring, dutiful. Just like his father. The thought brought a fresh wave of grief, threatening to overwhelm her.
She took a deep breath, trying to steady herself. The car's gentle motion and the hum of tires on asphalt were oddly soothing. For a moment, she could almost pretend this was just another drive, that John was waiting for her at home.
But reality was cruel and unforgiving. There would be no John waiting for her. No warm embrace, no gentle kiss on her forehead. Just an empty house filled with memories and ghosts.
"Mom," Arthur's voice broke through her thoughts. "I was thinking... maybe you shouldn't be alone right now. Why don't you come stay with me for a while? There’s really no reason to be alone in that big house.”
Christina opened her eyes, turning to look at her son. His face was etched with concern, his eyes flicking between her and the road. She could see the worry lines creasing his forehead, making him look older than his twenty-five years.
"Oh, honey," she said, her voice barely above a whisper. "I couldn't impose like that. You have a life of your own. Friends. Young women, I’m sure.” She shrugged. “That big house is my home, baby. It’s where I live.”
Arthur's grip tightened on the steering wheel. "It's not an imposition, Mom. I want you there. And... well, to be honest, I could use the company too."
Christina studied her son's profile. In that moment, she saw not just Arthur, but flashes of John – the same strong jawline, the same determined set of his shoulders. Her heart ached with a fresh wave of grief and love. She wasn’t the only one grieving.
"Or, what if I stay with you for a few days?” His gaze shifted from the road to her and back. “You can think about it. If you decide you want to be alone, then I’ll respect that. And if not…”
Christina turned to look out the window, watching the familiar streets of her neighborhood blur past. The thought of returning to an empty house, of sleeping alone in the bed she'd shared with John for over three decades, made her chest tighten with anxiety.
"I don't know, Arthur," she said softly. "It's a kind offer, but..."
"Just for a little while," he pressed gently. "A few weeks, maybe a month. Until you feel ready to be on your own again.”
Was her reluctance really rooted in wanting the best for her son? Or was she just trying to bury her head in her grief? Fall was coming. Someone had to winterize the house. There was no way she was climbing up on a ladder.
“It’s late,” she said, reaching for practicality. “You might as well stay tonight. After that…” She watched the house growing as they approached. “Well, let’s not set deadlines. We’ll just see how things work out.”
Arthur nodded; relief evident in the slight relaxation of his shoulders. "That sounds good, Mom. We'll take it day by day."
As they pulled into the driveway, Christina felt a surge of emotions. The sight of her home, once a sanctuary of love and warmth, now loomed before her like a mausoleum of memories. The flowerbeds John had lovingly tended were starting to wilt, mirroring her own wilting spirit.
Arthur came around to open her door, offering his hand to help her out. She took it, grateful for his steadying presence. Fatigue urged her to lean into him, and she didn’t have the courage to fight any longer. Christina fumbled in her purse for her keys. Her hands shook, making it impossible to get the key into the lock. Arthur gently took the keys from her and unlocked the door.
“I got it, Mom,” he said, helping her up the final step into the house. He shut the door and locked it. “Do you want to lie down? You look exhausted.”
Christina nodded. Her son remained at her side as she climbed the stairs to the master suite. In their bedroom - no, it was only her bedroom now, she sat on the bed and Arthur adjust the blinds to darken the room.
“Don’t leave me yet,” she whispered. Her son stopped in front of her. Stroked her hair. “I just… I’m just lonely. So lonely.”
Arthur nodded, his eyes glistening with unshed tears. "I know, Mom. I know." He sat down beside her on the bed, wrapping an arm around her shoulders. "I'm here. I'm not going anywhere."
Christina leaned into her son's embrace, feeling the dam of her emotions finally break. She sobbed quietly, her tears soaking into Arthur's suit jacket. He held her tightly, rocking her gently as if she were a child.
"I miss him so much," she whispered between sobs. "I don't know how to do this without him."
His voice was thick with emotion when he replied, "We'll figure it out together, Mom. One day at a time."
Her son carefully eased her down onto the bed, removing her shoes and covering her with a blanket. Blinking up at him, Christina smiled as he kissed her forehead. She caught his hand and held it, just like he used to do to her when he was a scared child.
“I’m sorry to be so needy,” she told him. “But… can you… can you hold me?”
Without a word, Arthur stood and kicked off his shoes. He climbed onto his parents’ bed and slid his arm under his mother’s head. As she spooned against his chest, he rested his other hand on her arm. A moment later, Christina took it and put it between hers, clasped in front of her.
“I love you,” she whispered, and she couldn’t decide if she was telling her dead husband goodbye or welcoming her son back into her life.
Chapter 2
Arthur Paterson woke slowly. From a child, his brain fought its way to consciousness a bit at a time. Eyes closed, he felt the soft warm body of a woman lying next to his. Perfume touched his nose, faint but familiar. His awareness grew, taking in three things. First, the woman he was holding had great tits and they fit in the palm of his hand perfectly. Second, his cock ached as it strained to find a way out of the metal cage encasing it. Third, his bladder needed to be emptied three hours ago.
“I’ll be right back,” he whispered, kissing the woman’s shoulder. “Don’t go anywhere.”
She sighed in her sleep, shifting a bit as he slid his arm from under her head. Rolling to the side of the bed, he stood and shuffled in what he hoped was the direction of the bathroom. Holding his hands out in the dark, he found a wall, then a door. Arthur pushed the door open and stepped inside.
His feet landed on cold tile. Paydirt! The bathroom was his. Arthur dropped his pants and sat on the toilet. He’d worn a chastity cage for too many years to risk standing up to relieve himself.
As he relieved himself, the events of the previous day came flooding back. The funeral, the wake, bringing his grieving mother home. He felt a pang of guilt as he realized he'd fallen asleep in his parents' bed while comforting his mother. Geez. That was his mother’s tit - er, breast that he’d been palming.
He finished up and washed his hands, careful to be quiet. Dim moonlight glowed through the blinds brightly enough for him to make out the familiar shapes of his childhood home's master bathroom. Family photos still hung on the walls, frozen moments of happier times.
Arthur crept back into the bedroom; his eyes now able to discern his mother's sleeping form on the bed. He hesitated, unsure if he should return to his old room or stay with her. She had asked him to hold her, after all. And he worried about leaving her alone. What if she woke up and needed comforting again? It had been six months since Melissa dismissed him from her service, but the vow to always serve women remained. And his mother was, in fact, a woman.
With a soft sigh, he carefully lowered himself back onto the bed. His mother stirred slightly but didn't wake. Arthur gently draped his arm over her, providing the comfort of his presence without being too intrusive. She moaned and turned in her sleep, pressing her nose into the hollow of his throat.
It felt so good to hold a woman again. To know that when she woke up, he could find ways to be useful to her. There was nothing wrong with serving his mother. He would be respectful and caring. He would be whatever she needed.
“You smell nice,” his mother whispered. Her lips sucked at his throat and nuzzled. Her hand reached down to feel the front of his pants. Tracing the outline of the cage he wore; his mother gave a knowing chuckle. “Someone’s happy to be home.” She yawned and snuggled against her son. “Get some rest, John. I’ll give you a ride in the morning.”
A moment later, his mother was snoring. Arthur held her, staring at the wall in the darkness. He knew exactly what his mother meant by a ride. The sudden knowledge of his parents’ sex life heated his face. Maybe sleeping with his mother wasn’t such a good idea.
His mother’s breathing changed, and she ran her fingers over his cheek. Her head lifted until her lips were pressed to his. Teeth caught at his chin.
“Well, tiger - do you need some pussy now? Or can you wait until it’s full of cum?”
Arthur’s cock grew at the suggestion. In moments, it filled the cage and strained against it. He sighed, loving the restriction that reminded him of his life’s mission - to serve women in chastity in a way that maximized their pleasure in life. How long had it been since he’d been allowed to use his cock? Nine months? A year?
“Doesn’t matter,” he whispered into the dark. “It isn’t my place to decide such things.”
“Good boy,” his mother replied. She sighed and kissed his throat again. “I expect to wake up with your mouth between my legs.” She giggled. “If I hit the bingo hard enough, maybe I’ll let you inside me.”
Arthur froze, his heart pounding. This wasn't right. His mother was clearly still half-asleep, confused in her grief. She thought he was his father. He needed to gently extricate himself from this situation before things went too far.
"Mom," he said softly, pulling back slightly. "It's me, Arthur. Dad's... Dad's gone, remember?"
His mother stiffened in his arms, then let out a small gasp. "Oh God," she whispered, her voice filled with horror. "Arthur? I'm so sorry, I thought... I was dreaming..."
She scrambled away from him, nearly falling off the bed in her haste. Arthur reached out to steady her, but she flinched away from his touch. Her hands flew to cover her face.
"It's okay, Mom," he said, trying to keep his voice calm and reassuring. "You were confused. It's understandable."
Christina shook her head vigorously, her shoulders shaking with silent sobs. "I'm sorry," she repeated. "I'm so sorry. Please, just... just go. I need to be alone."
Arthur hesitated, torn between respecting her wishes and his worry for her mental state. He wasn’t supposed to disobey a direct command from a woman, though. "Are you sure?”
“Get out!” His mother’s voice lifted to a shout. “You don’t belong in here with me!”
Aching to find some way to comfort her, Arthur climbed out of his mother’s bed. The door closed behind him as soon as he was in the hallway. He heard the lock click.
“I’m sorry,” he whispered. “I was trying to be a good boy. I just screwed it up, same as always.”
Chapter 3
Christina stared at the ceiling. Early morning sunlight streamed through the slits in the blinds. She had always loved the way the bedroom caught the first rays of the sun. But not today.
She had lain in her son’s arms last night and all but revealed the truth of her marriage. It was obvious that Arthur wasn’t an innocent child, but how much would he understand? Would he put everything together?
No. No, she couldn’t bear the thought of her son knowing about her dominant side. That was something only John knew about. And that secret would die with her.
“The only way out is through,” she told herself. “All I need is plausible deniability.” She reached for the necklace she always wore, but there was no silver key around her neck. The cage that held him chaste was buried with him, and he held the key while he waited for her to join him. “I miss you, John,” she whispered. “I miss our fun times in this bed.”
Christina forced herself out of bed, her joints creaking in protest. She couldn't hide in here forever. She had to face Arthur, to salvage what she could of their relationship. With trembling hands, she smoothed her hair and straightened her clothes from yesterday.
Taking a deep breath, she opened the bedroom door and stepped into the hallway. The smell of coffee wafted up from downstairs. She followed it to the kitchen, where she found Arthur at the stove, his back to her.
"Good morning," she said softly.
Arthur turned, his face a mask of concern and uncertainty. "Mom, I—"
She held up a hand, cutting him off. "Let's not talk about last night. I was... confused. Grief does strange things to a person's mind."
He nodded, relief washing over his features. "Of course. I understand." A hand waved at the table. "I made some eggs and toast. And coffee, if you want it."
Christina sat down, grateful for the normalcy of breakfast. "Thank you, honey. That's very thoughtful."
It felt wonderful to have a man wait on her again. A splash of cream in her coffee. A quick stir. A strong male presence waiting for her approval. If she closed her eyes, she could pretend it was John. The way he was before he was sick.
“Dear God.” Coffee scalded her throat as she gulped it down. The cup rattled on the table as she coughed. “You don’t usually make coffee, do you?”
Her son looked pained. “No, but I followed the directions on the package. Eight scoops for a full pot.”
Laughter bubbled from Christiana’s lips. She wiped her mouth on a napkin, looking up at her precious son.
“That’s for a twelve-cup pot,” she told him. “That pot only makes four cups.”
Athur looked down in her cup. “Yikes. No wonder the cream just disappeared.” He heaved a massive sigh. “Looks like I screwed up again. I’m sorry, Mom. I’ll make another pot.”
“No need for that,” Christina told him. “There’s a pitcher in the cupboard over the fridge. Just rinse that out and put the coffee in there. Then add ten or so cups of water. It’ll be fine.”
She watched her son obey her. Her mind went back to the words he whispered through her door. The feel of his cock when she ran her hand down his pants. Her eyes dropped lower, eyeing the bulge in Arthur’s pants.
That wasn’t his cock she’d felt. Her son was wearing a cage. But… why on earth would he be locked in chastity? Hadn’t he broken up with Melissa a few months ago? Maybe there was someone new in the picture.
“Something wrong?” Arthur poured the diluted coffee into her cup, adding cream after he sat the pitcher on the table. “You look troubled.”
It was none of her business if her son was caged, she told herself. A smile crept on her lips, nonetheless. It was good for a man to be locked. Kept him humble. Kept him from straying.
