Paying the Daddy's Debt

The two hulking figures, draped in shadows cast by the flickering streetlights outside, approached the imposing mansion with a sense of grim determination. Their footsteps, heavy and deliberate, echoed through the otherwise silent night as they climbed the stone steps leading to the grand entrance. The smaller of the two, with a jagged scar tracing the curve of his right cheek, produced a set of lockpicks from his pocket. The larger one, a behemoth with a thick beard and piercing eyes, glanced around the well-manicured garden, his hand resting on the grip of the black pistol tucked into the waistband of his pants.

Inside the mansion, Eugen, a man in his 40s with a sharp gaze and a meticulously groomed mustache, sat in his study, surrounded by the spoils of his successful business ventures. His eyes scanned over the financial reports on his desk, a smirk playing at the corners of his lips as he contemplated his next move. The muffled sound of the lock being picked brought him out of his reverie, and he placed his pen down with a sigh. He had known this day might come.

With the lock clicked open, the smaller one gestured for the larger to stay back as he cautiously pushed the door ajar. The interior of the mansion was dimly lit, with the occasional beam of moonlight piercing through the heavy curtains. The air was thick with the scent of old money and leather-bound tomes. They stepped inside, their boots echoing faintly through the marble hallway.

Eugen's heart skipped a beat as the door to his study creaked open, the dim light from the hallway spilling into the room. The loansharks had arrived. He quickly shuffled the papers on his desk, his mind racing. He had always been prepared for a situation like this, but the cold reality of the moment sent a shiver down his spine. He had made enemies in his climb to the top, but these two brutes were the kind of problem that could not be solved with a simple financial transaction. As they entered, he feigned nonchalance, leaning back in his chair with his hands steepled before him. "Gentlemen," he said, his voice steady despite the fear coiling in his stomach, "you're not here for my collection of rare stamps, I presume?"

The smaller loanshark, with the jagged scar, smirked at Eugen's attempt at humor, revealing a set of teeth that looked like they'd seen better days. He stepped into the room, the moonlight glinting off his shaved head. "Mr. Stavros, your charm isn't going to save you tonight," he said, his voice a low growl. Before Eugen could respond, the larger man, the behemoth, took a step forward, his beefy hand shooting out and delivering a powerful blow to the side of Eugen's face. The impact sent the chair toppling over, the sound of wood cracking against marble echoing through the room. The world spun for a moment before everything went dark, and the smell of blood filled the air.

Suddenly, a flurry of footsteps and a panicked gasp pierced the tension. The door to the study burst open, and a vision of youthful beauty stumbled into the room. Sonia, Eugen's 19-year-old daughter, her golden hair cascading over her shoulders, froze in the doorway, her wide blue eyes taking in the chaotic scene before her. She had been on her way to grab a book from the library when she heard the commotion. The loansharks' heads snapped in her direction, their expressions a mix of surprise and calculation. The larger one's hand hovered over his pistol, while the scarred man's smirk grew wider. "Well, well," he said, "looks like we've got ourselves an unexpected little bonus."

Eugen's head swam with pain as he pushed himself up onto his elbows, the taste of copper filling his mouth. He saw the fear in Sonia's eyes and knew he had to act fast. "Leave her out of this," he barked, spitting out a mouthful of blood. He struggled to stand, his legs wobbly beneath him. "You're here for me, not her." He reached for the hidden switch under his desk, his hand trembling slightly. The loansharks exchanged glances, the larger one eyeing the girl greedily. The smaller one took a step towards her, his hand outstretched, "Don't be hasty, old man. We can come to an arrangement."

Sonia stared at the two intruders in shock, her heart racing. Her eyes darted from one to the other, trying to make sense of the sudden, violent scene before her. The sight of her father, usually so powerful and in control, now bloodied and vulnerable, sent a chill down her spine. She had always been sheltered from the darker aspects of his business dealings, and now they had invaded her sanctuary. "F-father?" she stammered, her voice shaking as she took a tentative step backward.

The scarred loanshark took advantage of the distraction, his gaze lingering on Sonia's trembling form. He stepped closer, his movements smooth and predatory, placing a hand on her shoulder. "Don't worry, sweetheart," he sneered, his voice a mockery of comfort, "we're just here for a little...chat with your daddy." His other hand reached around, and as it did, she felt a firm grip on her hip, pulling her closer to him. The fabric of her silk nightgown whispered against her skin as he positioned himself behind her, his breath hot on her neck.

Sonia's eyes widened with horror, her body rigid as the scarred man's hand touched her. Her mind reeled, trying to comprehend the sudden and terrifying turn of events. The warmth of shock began to spread through her, turning her limbs to lead and her thoughts to fog. "P-please," she managed to stutter, her voice barely a whisper, "leave me alone." She tried to pull away, but his grip tightened, his fingers digging into her flesh.

Eugen's vision swam with pain as he watched Sonia's fearful expression. He knew he had to act fast. He raised a shaky hand, the tremor in his voice belying his desperation. "Take whatever you want," he pleaded, his eyes never leaving Sonia's terrified gaze. "Just...just leave her out of this. I'll have the money you want in a month. Just give me that much time." He could feel the loansharks' eyes on him, sizing up his proposal, the room heavy with the weight of their decision. The scent of fear and blood mingled in the air as he waited for their response, his heart pounding in his chest like a caged beast.

The scarred loanshark chuckled, his grip on Sonia not relenting. "You're already a month behind on your payments, Stavros," he sneered, his breath hot against her ear. "We're not here to negotiate. We're here to collect." His hand slid from her shoulder to her waist, his fingers digging into the soft fabric of her nightgown. "But," he added, his voice a dangerous purr, "perhaps there's another way you can buy some time."

Sonia's eyes filled with tears as she felt the man's hand on her body, his touch a violation that made her skin crawl. The panic grew in her chest, making it difficult to breathe. She knew what he was implying, and the thought of her ...
