Gazes around the bustling party, a mix of excitement and nervousness playing across his features. The vibrant lights cast kaleidoscopic shadows on the walls, and the music's bass thumps in his chest, setting the rhythm for the evening's escapades.

"Hey, guys!" Mark calls out, his voice a little too loud over the din of the party. He's 23, with a mop of unruly brown hair that perpetually falls into his eyes. He's dressed casually but with a hint of flair that suggests he's been waiting for this night for a while.

Mark's eyes dart around the crowded room, searching for a familiar face amidst the swirl of partygoers. The scent of cheap perfume and spilled drinks mingles with the faint aroma of the host's attempt at gourmet snacks. His friends are scattered throughout, laughing and chatting with a variety of party attendees. He tries to catch their attention without looking too desperate. "Hey, have any of you seen Jess around? She said she'd be here by now," he yells out to them, a hint of urgency in his voice. His heart thumps in sync with the bass of the music. The party is in full swing, and he can't shake the feeling that he's missing out on something important.

One of Mark's friends, a tall, lanky guy with a mischievous grin, leans into the conversation, his voice a conspiratorial whisper amidst the noise. "I think I saw Jess heading upstairs with a couple of guys, man. Did you two have plans or something?" His tone is teasing, but there's an underlying current of concern as he watches Mark's reaction.

Mark's heart skips a beat. He wasn't expecting to hear that. He takes a moment to process the information, his mind racing. "What do you mean 'heading upstairs with a couple of guys'?"
