Billy's thoughts are racing, a tornado of fear and desire. The memory of his mother's body, unresponsive yet reacting to him, is seared into his mind. He's never felt so powerful yet so weak, so in control yet so lost. He glances at the clock on the wall, the ticking a relentless reminder that he needs to act fast. His eyes dart to the bottle of wine on the kitchen counter, a plan forming in his mind. He grabs the sleeping pills, his hand shaking slightly, and crushes one into a fine powder. His mind is a battleground of doubt and craving, but the need to experience her again, to feel that forbidden closeness, wins out. He carefully opens the wine, pouring a little into a glass before mixing in the powder. It dissolves quickly, leaving no trace. With a heavy heart and a hopeful pulse, he returns to the living room, placing the glass on the coffee table within her reach.
