The Knot Within: Desire, Doubt, and a Dog's Unwavering Loyalty - by Diana Piner
Desire, Doubt, and a Dog's Unwavering Loyalty
- Prologue – What She Craves
The concrete held a faint chill against her palms and knees, but it was the living heat pressing down from above that claimed her attention first. Duke’s chest lowered in stages, the dense fur and solid muscle settling between her shoulder blades with a weight that made her arms steady rather than buckle. His front paws bracketed her ribs, not clutching but anchoring, the pads warm and slightly rough where they rested against her skin through the thin shirt she had not bothered to remove. She felt the careful redistribution of his hind legs, the subtle scrape of a claw finding purchase, and the shift of his heavy body as he aligned himself over her. His muzzle came to rest beside her ear, breath damp and rhythmic against the side of her neck where the red headband had slipped forward.
She reached back without hurry, fingers closing around the slick, heated length of him. The skin there was velvety and taut, already glistening. “Here,” she said, low and steady, guiding the blunt head to the place where her body had grown slick and open. Her hips tilted in invitation, and she felt the first blunt nudge part her folds. Duke pressed forward at the same moment she pushed back, slow enough that she could feel every fraction of the stretch as he sank into her. The burn began low and deep, a spreading heat that made her breath catch and her inner walls flutter around the intrusion. She did not pull away. Instead she rocked once, taking him deeper, and a low rumble vibrated from his chest into her spine.
He paused when he was halfway seated, letting her adjust to the girth, the way her cunt gripped and pulled at him with each small pulse of her body. A thin thread of her arousal slid down the inside of her thigh. She reached farther back, palm flat against his flank, and murmured, “More.” The word was barely more than breath, but he answered it. His next thrust was measured, deliberate, dragging along every sensitive place inside her before he withdrew almost entirely and pushed in again. Wet sounds rose between them, soft and obscene, her wetness coating him, making each movement easier and more intimate. She met him, hips rolling to take the full length, the burn sharpening into something that licked up her spine and settled low in her belly.
His knot began to swell at the base, pressing outward with every stroke, catching at her entrance in a way that made her thighs tremble. She gasped when it lodged more firmly, the stretch sudden and full, her body yielding around it even as the pressure built. Duke adjusted his stance, hindquarters tensing, and pushed once more. The knot slipped inside with a tight, wet sound that drew a broken moan from her throat. Locked. The heat of it pulsed against her walls, tugging gently with every small movement he made, and she felt the first hot spill of him begin to fill her.
She came with her forehead pressed to the cool floor, body clenching hard around the knot, pulling it deeper as wave after wave rolled through her. Duke’s thrusts shortened to grinding presses, his chest heavy over her back, his breath hot and fast against her shoulder. Another pulse of heat flooded her, thick and insistent, leaking around the seal of the knot to trickle down her thighs in slow rivulets. Her fingers curled against the concrete. She reached up blindly and found his paw where it rested beside her hand, curling her own fingers over it in silent answer.
The knot held them fast while her body shuddered through the last tremors. In the quiet that followed, only their breathing and the faint drip of shared heat onto the floor remained.
- Chapter 1 – Silence in the Suburbs
The house settled around her with the soft creak of cooling wood and the distant hum of the refrigerator cycling on. Sophia stood at the edge of the living room, fingers still curved from hours at the keyboard, and listened to the particular quiet that only came after the sun had dropped behind the neighbor’s fence. No voices. No music. Just the faint tick of the wall clock and the occasional shift of air through the vents. She rolled her shoulders once, feeling the pull of tight muscle, then crossed to the couch and lowered herself onto the cushion. The fabric held the day’s warmth against the backs of her thighs.
Duke appeared from the hallway without sound, only the soft pad of his paws on the rug. He was already close when she turned her head, his broad head level with her knee, brown eyes lifting to meet hers. She reached out without thinking and laid her palm along the side of his face. The fur there was coarse on the surface, but beneath it the skin was warm and alive. He leaned into the touch, the solid weight of his skull pressing against her hand until she had to brace her elbow against the arm of the couch to hold him. A low, contented sound moved through his chest and into her fingers.
She let her hand slide down the thick column of his neck, fingers parting the longer guard hairs to find the softer undercoat. Heat radiated from him in steady waves, soaking through the thin cotton of her shirt where her forearm rested against his shoulder. He shifted closer, the bulk of his body settling against the side of her leg, and she felt the slow rise and fall of his ribs beneath her palm. When she scratched lightly behind his ear, his head tilted, offering more. His tongue came out once, warm and wet, to touch the inside of her wrist before retreating. The damp spot cooled quickly in the still air, but the sensation stayed, a small bright point against her skin.
Luna watched from the back of the armchair, tail curled tight around her paws, eyes reflecting the last of the daylight from the window. Sophia did not look at her. Instead she let her fingers keep moving, tracing the line of Duke’s spine where the fur grew thicker and the muscle rolled beneath it. She could feel the individual strands catching lightly against her fingertips, the way his skin twitched once in pleasure and then stilled. He exhaled through his nose, the breath warm against her knee, and she felt the vibration of it travel up her thigh. For a moment the emptiness of the room pressed less heavily.
Her phone lit on the coffee table with a soft chime. She glanced at the screen, saw the name of an old friend, and let the light fade without touching it. The couch cushion dipped further as Duke adjusted his weight, resting more of himself against her. The heat of him sank deeper now, past the surface of her skin and into the tired places along her spine and hips. She closed her eyes and breathed in the faint, clean scent of his fur mixed with the cooler air of the room. Her hand kept moving, slower now, following the same path along his neck and shoulder, memorizing the texture, the give, the steady living warmth.
When she finally stopped, her fingers stayed curled against him for several breaths. Duke did not move away. He simply waited, the solid presence of him filling the space where the house’s silence had been. Sophia opened her eyes to the dimming room and let her hand rest there a little longer, feeling the slow, even beat of his heart against her palm. The quiet returned, but it felt different with the weight of him pressed along her side, as though the room had narrowed to this single point of contact. She stayed exactly like that until the last of the light slipped from the windows and the first cool breath of evening air moved through the open doorway behind her.
- Chapter 2 – The Lingering Tongue
The ball rolled across the rug and bumped against the leg of the coffee table with a soft thud. Sophia watched it settle, then glanced at Duke where he stood waiting, ears forward, tail moving in slow arcs. She had meant only to stretch her legs after the long stretch ...
